Airborne disinfection can cause damage to cleanroom partitions, such as blistering or peeling paint. Solutions are available to repair or even prevent this phenomenon.

As a specialist in the renovation of sandwich panels in cleanrooms, CEPI offers sustainable solutions to prevent or restore potential blistering issues that may appear on painted partitions when an airborne surface disinfection (ASD) system is implemented. Hydrogen peroxide has become widely used in controlled environments for decontamination purposes; however, H2O2 can act as a stripping agent on lacquered panels. Jean-Michel Pinel, CEO of CEPI, shares solutions that have already been validated by their cleanroom clients. What solution did the company initially offer? What have you brought to the table since joining the company?

A paint system resistant to H2O2 decontamination. This solution made it possible to avoid replacing a damaged panel. However, the drawbacks included the duration of the intervention, particularly due to the required drying time, as well as the persistent odor lasting several days, which could disrupt activities in adjacent areas. We therefore worked on another solution that Dominique Simon had already considered: an adhesive film applied to the walls. In 2017, a patent was filed for the installation process of this coating, providing increased resistance and easier surface maintenance.

Technical shutdowns are becoming increasingly shorter, while the paint solution requires significant intervention time due to preparation, application, and the drying time required between the different coats. In addition, this process requires a waiting period before the very first H2O2 decontamination can be carried out.

In view of these constraints, CEPI developed a procedure for installing an adhesive film resistant to H2O2 decontamination, reducing intervention times and allowing work to be carried out while other activities continue. We guarantee a service life of more than ten years.

Furthermore, hydrogen peroxide testing on the film showed no alteration when exposed to substances such as synthetic detergent, hydrochloric acid (10%), or caustic soda (10%). It has also been tested by our clients according to their cleaning procedures, using commercial formulations such as 70% ethyl alcohol, Bacteranios, Surfanios, Aniospray, Amphospray, Anioxy-spray, Vaprox, and Minncare. The film can also withstand temperatures ranging from -15 °C to +90 °C.
